2019 CGFFL

The goal every season is to improve the CGFFL just a little more and I believe we definitely did that in 2018. This season there were many league firsts, quite a few surprises, and the competition was at an all time high. Surprisingly the 2 best teams from 2017 failed to make a return trip to the playoffs. After a 10 win season and the scoring title Greg Smith finished a mediocre 7-7 and missed the playoffs for the first time in 2 seasons. Edgar Cruz in his title defense finished a dismal 5-9 and last place in the Smith Division despite another stout team. After 4 straight Aikman Division titles and 3 straight Super Bowl appearances Douglas missed the playoffs for the first time since 2013, only the second time ever he has not qualified for the post-season. Former back-to-back Champ GLVR finished in last place for the 1st time with his all time worst record of 3-11. And the Irvin Division, the strongest division in 2018, for the first time in League history finished in a 4 way tie.

Chris Leamy had his first career winning record (8-6) and only missed the playoffs by 1 game after finishing in last place in his first 2 seasons. Raiborn won his 1st Aikman Division title with a league best 10-4 record, 6-0 in divisional play, and made his second career Super Bowl appearance. Dustin Baggs won the Smith Division with an 8-6 record in his rookie season. Let's not forget that impressive 6 game win streak Matsuda had in the middle of the season and Jeremy also got in his 1st career victory over Doug back in week 3, 98-97.

Our 2018 Champion, Eddie Lovecchio, won his first Irvin Division Championship with his first winning record of 8-6 and won the 2018 Scoring Title with 1531 points (109 point avg.). He then went on to win his first Super Bowl with one of the best squads ever put together in the CGFFL.

We'll also always remember the uproar over "The Trade" when Edgar traded A-Rod and AP to Doug and Edgar's incomplete lineup 1 point loss to Raiborn in week 7.
